Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Treating municipal wastewater is an important process that helps keep communities safe from sewage bacteria and other contaminants. A growing number of communities are using enzymes to manage their sewage treatment concerns, spreading these beneficial items throughout wastewater to help restore it to healthy drinking status. Understanding these enzymes from American Biosystems lets communities make intelligent and informed water treatment decisions.

How are Enzymes Used in Sewage Treatment?

Wastewater treatment enzymes help break down various contaminants on a cellular level to make water easier to clean and restore to a healthier status. These enzymes come in many varieties and all focus on a multitude of different treatment needs. They include:

  • Cellulase and Amylase: These Enzymes treat plant based cellular material in water sources such as undegraded paper and plant carbohydrates, helping to break them down into smaller more easily treatable materials.
  • Protease: Wastewater treatment processes use these enzymes to break down peptide bonds between protein and are used in wastewater to help breakdown feedstuffs and other proteins in wastewater.
  • Lipase: Lipase is used in wastewater treatment processes to breakdown a variety of fats, oils, and greases that can get into our water system. These enzymes are commonly used in wastewater coming from food processing or kitchen residue.

At American Biosystems, we provide many municipal wastewater treatment enzymes that may help your community manage its water needs. Understanding the different products that we offer and how they can help you will give you a better idea of which items may be appropriate for your needs.

Enzymes for Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Enzymes available from American Biosystems for wastewater treatment include:

Accelobac 1000

This enzyme uses aerobic and anaerobic bacteria designed for general sludge reduction, including 900CU/gram of cellulase, 680 BAU/gram of bacterial amylase, and 5,000 PC/gram of bacterial protease. You can use this compound when eliminating various items, including starchy substances and other heavy waste from your water. Use one-half pound per each 600 gallons for the first week and one-quarter pound after.

Accelobac 1000W

This specialized compound includes high levels of B. licheniformis, B. pumilus, B. subtilis, B megaterium, and B. amyloliqufaciens. It can help break up various contaminants, including various stains and fuels within your wastewater. Useful for wastewater lagoons when mixed at 15-25 pounds per square surface every week.

Accelobac 1020

This treatment option includes similar strains as 1000W but also includes protease, lipase, and cellulase enzyme cultures. Spread 25-50 pounds per MGD flow every day, 3-6 pounds per the first week, and two pounds per 2,000 cubic feet twice weekly after that. Continue to spread this enzyme throughout your affected areas until the water is clean.

Accelobac 1030

Consider this treatment option for contaminated soils, lagoons, and municipal water treatment. Mix at two pounds per cubic yard weekly for contaminated soils and 15-25 pounds per acre surface weekly for lagoons. This compound helps break down multiple waste types to restore your water to its pristine nature. You may also mix this enzyme at a similar level with various wastewater management facilities.
